Artist Statement and Bio:
My artwork is framed within contemporary realism combining the innocence and surreal darkness inherent to the environment. Boundaries are blurred between real imagery and my imagination paying particular attention to light and composition, where the subject and surroundings come together as a part of the whole. For years my work focused on representing acute details of everyday life. However more recent works explore imaginative, surreal, and provocative pieces that reveal “perceptions” that intersects with social, economic, and environmental concerns. Each piece searches, contrasts, compares, or connects to alter perception of humanity’s relationship to the earth in order to respond to the ecological and social challenges of our times.
