The image is a large sunflower as a cut flower. I isolated it with a black background for emphasis and dramatic effect. It was a studio shot in my catalogue which instantly came to mind after the attack on Ukraine. The sunflower is the national flower of Ukraine. I see the single flower as symbolic of Ukraine’s singular resolve and courage in the face of overwhelming odds. A hero is one who stands tall, even when death is eminent. Ukraine is the hero of democracy now and forever.
