“Memory of Trees” by Cathleen Cohen, 2025

These are my original paintings and they are not previously published
anywhere, therefore they are available for publication now. “Fettered” and
“Lone” both depict somberness and longing, a sense of isolation and
longing for connection with nature. “Memory of Trees” is also filled with
longing for more healthy climate conditions that would nurture the
blossoming of trees and flora- there is a sense of memory of past
conditions, scenes and connections that we have all experienced.

Bio: Cathleen Cohen was the 2019 Poet Laureate of Montgomery County, PA.
She founded the We the Poets Project in Philadelphia (www.theArtWell.com ). Her
poems appear in various journals and her poetry collections are: Camera
Obscura (2017), *Etching the Ghost* (2021) and *Sparks and Disperses*
(2021) and Murmuration (2024). Her paintings are on view at Cerulean Arts
Gallery (www.ceruleanarts.com) and www.cathleencohenart.com. She teaches
poetry and painting workshops to children and adults.
