Crowd Control
The power of the image lies not in confrontation, but in presence. It shows how protest can carry urgency and solidarity without descending into chaos. This moment reflects the essence of democracy—not always loud or forceful, but enduring, human, and collective, even in the face of repression. Bundled against the cold, seated in orderly lines, and illuminated by the fading dusk, the protestors embody a powerful, nonviolent resistance—one that speaks volumes without needing to shout.
Donghyun Han is a junior at Shawnigan Lake School who views photography as a means of exploring the world and uncovering the hidden stories within it. For him, each image is a window into his perspective, revealing emotions and nuances often missed in the rush of daily life. Through thoughtful use of light, composition, and subject matter, Donghyun seeks to create a quiet dialogue between the viewer and the captured moment. His work invites others to pause, reflect, and engage more deeply with the beauty, fragility, and complexity of the world around them.
