The Only Consolation
This artwork portrays a figure confronting various reflections of herself in mirrors during a moment of crisis. Each reflection represents different realities and inner emotional states, most of which depict isolation and suffering. However, the figure in the leftmost mirror uniquely experiences comfort through a gentle hand resting upon her shoulder, symbolizing warmth, consolation, and solidarity. Through this piece, I aim to express that the strength to overcome hardships comes not from isolation, but from relationships and communal support.
Minseo Jung is a junior at Seoul Scholars International – Art & Design and a visual artist who explores the relationship between people and space. Drawing on the concept of environmental determinism, her work examines how physical environments shape emotions, behaviors, and identities. Using mixed media, she layers textures and symbols to capture the subtle interplay between structure and feeling, evoking memories and moods. Inspired by architecture, urban spaces, and personal experiences, Minseo questions the invisible flows that define everyday life. She hopes to continue developing her artistic voice and pursue further studies in fine art.
